Joseph Marc LaFerriere

June 2, 1945 - September 6, 2024

Joseph Marc (Markie) LaFerriere passed away on September 6th, 2024. He was born in 1945, in Hawkesbury, Ontario, and turned 79 this past June 2nd. Marc was one of the first people to move into the Lodge on February 27, 1986.

He had an infectious personality and loved music, singing, and enjoying old songs. He would often sing along when he heard them. His favorite song was ‘Que Sera Sera" by Doris Day! He also loved singing Old MacDonald and would fill in the line where the person singing with him would leave off.  When there were Church Services at the Lodge, he loved singing along to hymns too!

Years ago, Marc had a girlfriend, who he adored - Bernadette Ann Aislan - a co-resident. They were always together and always holding hands - indeed when she died, she was holding his hand. He had a tender heart and considered the staff and friends at
the Lodge to be his family. He particularly enjoyed the company of Dawn and Gerry, whether just watching TV or participating in various recreation activities.

Marc loved cheering on the Blue Jays and welcoming animals who dropped by the Lodge for visits, with their owners. Marc loved his morning coffee, and he enjoyed teasing people and calling them "bad boys". He loved knowing if people were coming back in the morning and would ask most people (staff) "mor-morning"; and, of course, because they cared, they would say "yes, mor-morning". But Marc also had a feisty side. When he had had enough of something - whether it be Bernadette's yelling or loud music or if he was tired, he would say "no more, no more, guck off".  But mostly there were times when he would look at you with
mischief in his eyes and a smirk and say "I'm mad at you" - and that was his way of saying banter with me. He loved it!

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Garafraxa Hill Funeral Home, Chatsworth. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Participation Lodge, 684136, 30 Sideroad, RR#1, Holland Centre on Wednesday October 9, at 2pm. If desired, donations in
Marc's memory can be made to Participation Lodge Grey Bruce. Condolences may be expressed online at www.garafraxahillfuneral.com

Finally, please take a moment to remember and cherish your memories of Marc and hum a few lines of Que Sera Sera…..
