Participation lodge offers year round respite
services for persons with physical and developmental handicaps
through the Holland Centre location. First choice is given
to those persons who reside in the Grey and Bruce counties
but is also available outside this region. The service is
limited to two people at a time.
Services
Provided
Meals, accommodation, attendant care services,
nursing services, inclusion in planned activities with persons
residing full time at the Lodge.
Booking
Booking is done through the Director of
Care.
Application and Acceptance
Acceptance of a person into the respite
program is done after an application package is filled out
by the individual or their family and is reviewed by the Director
of Care for suitability to service.
Criteria for acceptance:
- one of the two respite beds is available
- the person’s needs can be met with the
existing skill level of staff
- the person does not exhibit any severe
or violent behaviors
- the person does not require one on one
supervision
- the person does not pose a threat to other
persons living at the Lodge
A person will be removed from program if
the information form is false or misleading. Once the individual
application is accepted, the individual’s name is entered
into the Respite book and a room is assigned.
Length of Stay
The maximum length of stay is one month.
Longer times may be approved under extenuating circumstances.
Costs
For persons living in Grey and Bruce is
$27.00 per day. This low-cost is available by means of government
funding.
For persons living outside of Grey and
Bruce - $60.00 per day.
Payment is due in full upon acceptance
into the program.
Limited transportation services are available
for an additional cost. (Additional transportation requirements
should be provided by family members or care-givers.)
