Our Residents and Clients

The majority of our residents and clients require a very high level of care due to physical and developmental challenges as well as medical conditions such as Cerebral Palsy or Spina Bifida etc. Most of the people we support are in wheelchairs and are completely dependent on others for just about everything! Think about that statement for a moment. Imagine waiting for someone to come and get you out of bed in the morning, help you get dressed, look after your personal hygiene (bathing, toileting), having someone prepare your meals and assist with eating and drinking, arranging your activities, then getting you back into bed and turning you through the night.

Participation Lodge is committed to provide "quality of life care" which goes well beyond the needs of "personal care". Residents are seen as individuals, each with personal needs - both physical and emotional.

Facilities and Services

Participation Lodge has space for 20 full-time residents. Most rooms are single occupancy with some doubles. The price is the same.

Residents are allowed to bring personal effects that are safe, in good working order and do not create a hazard to other residents. Space is limited so approval for larger items is required.

Rehabilitation services such as physiotherapy are available only through outside services. They are not provided on site.

Internal and external activities are pre planned with input from clients and currently carried out by the recreation department.

Families are encouraged to visit any time and maintain active involvement in lives of residents. There are no set hours for immediate family as long as they do not disturb other clients.  All others are to visit between 9:00AM and 9:30PM.
